Community Roundtable

Community roundtable to address homelessness

California is producing more homelessness than it can realistically address, and that trajectory must change. At the heart of this challenge are rising affordability pressures, housing market distortions, and the growing presence of drugs on our streets. Any serious conversation must begin by acknowledging that homelessness is not just a housing issue, but a systems failure that spans economic policy, public health, and governance. We must also confront the reality that current approaches are not delivering results at the scale required.

This roundtable will focus on practical, humane, and accountable solutions. Key areas for discussion include restoring housing affordability, reducing the impact of drugs in our communities, and ensuring that individuals experiencing homelessness are treated with dignity and offered real pathways to stability. Participants will also examine the role of accountability—how public funds allocated to homelessness are spent, how to ensure those resources are used effectively, and what reforms may be needed to improve oversight. The goal is to identify actionable steps that balance compassion with responsibility and produce measurable outcomes for communities across California.
